Is it worth buying? Destiny: The Taken King
Destiny was released as a fun and promising game, but subsequent DLCs for the title produced mixed responses from fans due to the constant grinding and stale endgame content the updates produced. Soon, The Taken King, Destiny’s largest and most ambitious expansion yet, hopes to fix the issues the previous DLCs have created and expand upon the lack of a story, as well as many minor issues plaguing the game.
Recently, Destiny was updated to version 2.0 in anticipation for The Taken King, and players are already happy. 2.0 has introduced numerous quality enhancing updates, new maps, items, and an updated quest system that will become key in The Taken King. Bungie has officially set the stage for The Taken King, and it’s looking good so far. However, this new expansion may not be able to truly ‘fix’ some of the problems that remain with the game.
One of the biggest issues players have had with Destiny is that the DLC content is repetitive, stale, and ruins the endgame content by introducing new, easy ways to level up and obtain powerful gear. The Taken King has taken Destiny’s leveling system and turned it on its head, hoping to make truly powerful gear special and every weapon rarer and more useful. While this change seems great and has already been experienced in 2.0, it doesn’t appear that it will truly repair the damage done by the other two DLCs.
Destiny’s The Taken King expansion has so far done more thing right than the previous DLCs, and seems to be heading in the right direction. It’s hard to tell if the changes Bungie wishes to implement will truly repair the issues players are having with the game, but until it’s actually out and able to be scrutinized, it may be wise to save your money for the future.
