H and Dicky’s Corner: 2017 Fantasy Football Predictions

Each week of the NFL season, H and Dicky will keep your fantasy team in the hunt

It’s that time again, Fantasy Football is back! So your draft is over and you are anxiously waiting for the beginning of the season.  Did you dominate your draft? Are you headed for a championship or the cellar? In the first installment of our weekly column, check out a few of our preseason predictions:

Solid Gold Picks

Le’Veon Bell-RB, Pit — No surprise here. Le’Veon Bell is easily going to be the top running back every week. He’s especially Gold this week because the Steelers play the Browns. The Browns. He’ll get no less than 30 touches, and his receiving game is starting receiver-esque. If you have him, you should start him every week except bye week.

Matt Ryan-QB, Atl — Matt Ryan finished second in fantasy points last year, and he’ll be looking to do the same or better this year. He has a freakish target in Julio Jones on his team, and a running back who can carry or receive. Matt Ryan will be one of the best fantasy quarterbacks, and should be a consistent starter.

Doug Baldwin-WR, Sea — If you are playing in a PPR league, Baldwin is one of the best. He isn’t quite a deep threat, but he has the skills to be one. He is the number one receiver on the Seahawks, and will easily be targeted over ten times per game.

Sleepers

Jordan Howard-RB, Chi — Howard is the Bears starting running back. Although the Bears are lacking in a lot of areas, their offensive line is very experienced. That mixed with great athleticism in Howard makes for a great sleeper this Sunday.

Terrelle Pryor Sr.-WR, Wsh — This former quarterback turned receiver is joining a very exciting Washington Redskins’ offense this season where he will see a lot of targets as the number one receiver. Quarterback Kirk Cousins will not have any trouble finding this 6’4″ target in week one, especially against a weak Eagles secondary.

Cam Newton-QB, Car — Coming off of a Super Bowl 50 loss to the Broncos, Newton had a less than stellar year last year. He will be looking to have a bounce back year with a new threat in Christian McCaffrey. He will be going up against the 49ers in his week one match up.

Suckers

Tom Brady-QB, NE — While he may be the G.O.A.T., that doesn’t make him a great fantasy quarterback. Father time is a big factor in his production, and we think it’s starting to get to him. He’ll get the respect he deserves, and definitely has some great weapons on his team, but age is taking its toll on him.

Larry Fitzgerald-WR, Ari — Here is another case of age playing a factor in a player’s production. Fitz has been a star receiver for what seems like ever, but he’s starting to settle down, and the Cardinals have surrounded him with more weapons. More weapons means less targets for him.

LeGarrette Blount-RB, Phi — LeGarrette Blount is one of biggest and most powerful back we’ve ever seen, and its hard to say he’ll do bad. On the other hand, the Eagles offense is rebuilding, and that will most likely limit his power. Blount is a fine flex option, and possibly a RB2 in PPR leagues.
