Golden Eagle Defense Stays Strong vs PV

Tyrone’s defense gave up 447 yards but came up with five red zone stops

Despite surrendering 477 total yards of offense Tyrone’s defense held strong in the red zone making 5 defensive stops, defeating Penns Valley 28-6.

“We had a bend-but-don’t-break mentality,” said Tyrone coach Jason Wilson, “The defense stepped up when it needed to.” And indeed the defense stepped up stopping Penns Valley 5 times in the Red Zone two of those stops coming at the Tyrone 1 yard line.

The first quarter was a stalemate, neither team putting any points on the board. The score remained tied at 0-0 until Brandon Loose broke loose for a 21 yard run for a touchdown, giving a Tyrone a 7-0 lead with 1 minute left in the first quarter.

In the second quarter Tyrone put another touchdown on the board with a 9 yard run from Brandon Loose,  giving Tyrone a 14-0 lead with 5 minutes left in the half.

Penns Valley retaliated with a 38 yards touchdown, but failed the two point conversion, cutting Tyrone’s lead to 14-6.

Tyrone added another Touchdown before the end of the first half with a 52 yard pass from Parker Mitchell to Denver Light giving Tyrone a 21-6 lead with 2:49 left in the first half.

Neither team put another score on the board for the remaining minutes left in the first half. Sending Tyrone into the half with a commanding 21-6 lead.

Both defense stayed strong in the third quarter neither team budging keeping the score 21-6 Tyrone quarters through 3 quarters.

Tyrone then delivered the final blow with 1:48 left in the game when senior Brandon Loose scored his third touchdown of the game with a 10 yard rush giving Tyrone a 28-6 lead.

With this victory Tyrone moves to 3-6 on the season and 3-4 in the Mountain League. Tyrone takes on Chestnut ridge this Friday in their Senior Night game. Unless Bedford pulls of the upset of Forest Hills Tyrone is going to be in the playoffs.
