Mr. Lucas Rhoades

Mr. Lucas Rhoades, dean of students, athletic director, and head varsity girls basketball coach at Tyrone is February’s teacher/staff member of the month.

 

Eagle Eye: What inspired you to become a teacher?

Lucas Rhoades: I had several great teachers in high school including Mr. Wilbur, Mr. Abbott, Mr. Everhart, and Mr. Butler.

E.E.: How long have you been teaching?

LR: 13 years

E.E.:Have you always taught/been working at Tyrone? If not, where else have you taught?

LR: Yes, I’ve always taught in the Tyrone school district.

E.E.: What is your favorite memory as a teacher?

LR: When I was teaching seeing kids reactions when they accomplished a difficult task.

E.E.: If you weren’t teaching right now, what would you be doing?

LR: Golfing professionaly or playing professional poker.

E.E.: Where did you attend high school?

LR: Tyrone High School

E.E.: Where did you attend college?

LR: Juniata College

E.E.: What is your favorite movie?

LR: Braveheart

E.E.: What is your favorite book?

LR: “The 12th Angel” by Og Mandino

E.E.: What is your favorite sport and sports team?

LR: Favorite sports are basketball, football, and baseball..  My favorite team is the Atlanta Braves.
