The boys Cross Country team just completed their best duel meet season in recent memory, finishing with a 5-3 overall record.

Sophomore Joe Kohler has been the star of the team, winning in all but one of those duel meets including winning his first Mountain League Championship Meet last night with an impressive time of 17:25.

This boys team has really achieved a lot this season. They have the opportunity to make some waves at the district meet next Saturday. I believe some Hershey chocolate is in the near future for some of them

— Head Coach Tammy Wills

Kohler was able to catch and pass Penns Valley’s Chris Colwell in a sprint to the finish. Colwell came in second at 17:26.

Senior Adam Zook and freshman Zack Kohler took 10th and 11th place respectively.

Kohler’s season best time of 16:57 makes him only the fourth runner in school history to break seventeen minutes and the first to do so as a sophomore.

Kohler has had a formidable supporting cast, one of which is his brother Zack, who has consistently run under 20 minutes with a personal best of 18:11.

Senior Adam Zook has also continued his success from last season with a solid personal best time of 17:23.

“This boys team has really achieved a lot this season,” remarked Head Coach Tammy Wills, ” They have the opportunity to make some waves at the district meet next Saturday. I believe some Hershey chocolate is in the near future for some of them.”

The boys concluded their regular season with a 3rd place finish at the Mountain League Championships.

On the girls side, junior Cassie Friday took 6th with a time of 22:50, followed by Sean Dawson in 9th with a time of 23:52.

The girls team finished the regular season at 2-6 and struggled to find depth despite having talent at the top of the team. Never the less strong showings by Friday and Dawson throughout the season certainly put them in the conversation for qualifying for states at Hershey in November.

The District 6 Championship Meet is next Saturday. Zook looks to return to states while members of the boys and girls squads look to make their mark on the home stretch of the season.
