Big Loss To Central Leaves Tyrone Looking For Answers

Defensive Miscues and Lack of Offense hindered Tyrone

After a few missed tackles, blocks, and coverage, Central’s size proved to be too much for the Golden Eagles in their 31-14 loss Friday night.

In the first quarter the Golden Eagle defense looked up to the task with a few forced turnovers including an interception from Senior Kyle Plummer in the red zone to stop Central’s fast moving offense. The defense looked stout but the size of Central began to wear out the team.

We missed some tackles that turned into big plays for them,” said Wilson . “Take away some of those big plays and it might have been different.

Despite having a lot of returning athletes, Tyrone’s offense just cannot seem to get going yet in the 2017 season. Friday night, the offense once again was stagnant when they had the ball. Late in the first quarter Central took a 2-0 lead after Tyrone let up a safety on an intentional grounding penalty in their own end zone. From that point on Central took over the game.

The Dragons went up big after they scored three touchdowns in the second quarter and almost one at the end of the half after Parker Mitchell was just barely able to chase down Jared Smith inches short of the pylon.

The only scores Tyrone had both came late when Senior Brandon Loose got “loose” and broke down the field for a couple big plays and two touchdowns. Loose finished the game with 25 carries for 96 yards and two TDs.

The Golden Eagles have struggled and have been out gained 732-341 yard in their first two games. Tyrone look to right the ship this week versus a solid Huntingdon team in Huntingdon.
