Bald Eagles > Golden Eagles

The Tyrone Golden Eagle football team lost to another tough Mountain League opponent Friday night when they got shut out 31-0 by Bald Eagle. The Golden Eagles can not catch a break this season as they suffered injuries to key players before going through the toughest part of their schedule.

With Tyrone down to their fourth starting running back with junior Matthew Clifton thrusted into the starting role Friday night. Clifton rushed for 36 yards on 10 carries but toughed out every yard he gained.

“I thought we played hard as a team but I wasn’t very pleased with the penalties and the turnover in the first series of downs,” said Tyrone Head Coach John Franco, “We also had two opportunities in the first half to score and we didn’t take advantage of them and you can’t do that against a good team like Bald Eagle.”

Tyrone’s defense did everything they could to keep them in the game but Bald Eagle’s offense ultimately proved too much for the depleted Eagles.

Bald Eagle scored their first touchdown of the game on a 9 yard run by Jayden Jones with 8:29 left in the first quarter. After a successful extra point BEA held a 7-0 lead.

Tyrone’s defense held Bald Eagle quiet for the remainder of the first quarter but their offense was unable to get any momentum keeping the game at a 7-0 Bald Eagle lead after the end of the first.

Bald Eagle got their second touchdown of the game with 23.8 left in the first half when Jones found Bittinger for a 8 yard touchdown giving Bald Eagle a 14-0 lead after the end of the first half.

Bald Eagle added their third touchdown of the game on Jaden Jones’ third of the game second passing. Jones found Reese from 16 yards out to give BEA the 21-0 lead with 11:52 left in the third quarter.

BEA added 10 more points in the fourth quarter to complete the 31-0 shutout of the Golden Eagles. With the loss Tyrone falls to 2-4 on the year. They look to regroup next week as they travel to Clearfield.
