    Athlete of the Week: Mackenzie Latchford

    Grade: Senior  

    Accomplishments: 200 meter dash Champion and new Mountain League record holder.  On the Champion 4*100 team.  Prior D6 champion in the 100 and 2300

    Coach Brad Kanuch quote:  ¨Kenz is a workhorse.  She is continuously asked to do so much and does it with a smile on her face and toughness in her heart.  She has been an absolute pleasure to coach these last four years and has put in so much extra work in the off season.¨


    Eagle Eye: How did you first get involved in this sport?

    Mackenzie Latchford: ¨I first got involved in track in 8th grade after quitting gymnastics and Tammy Wills convinced me to try it out.¨

    EE: What other sports do you play?

    ML: Soccer

    EE: Favorite professional sports team?

    ML: Pittsburgh Penguins 

    EE: Favorite professional athlete?

    ML: Allyson Felix 

    EE: Who is your hero? Why?

    ML: ¨I admire my parents because they are always there to love and support me no matter what.¨

    EE: Favorite band /musician?

    ML: Luke Combs 

    EE: Favorite movie/show?

    ML: Deadpool 

    EE: Favorite food?

    ML: Chicken Fajitas   

    EE: What advice would you give younger athletes?

    ML: ¨Never give up. It is not going to be easy, so you have to push yourself in order to succeed.¨

    EE: What are your future goals?

    ML: ¨Attend Clarion University to pursue a degree in nursing while also competing on their track team. Eventually, I hope to get my doctorate degree to become a CRNA.¨
