Agar.io still holds a grip on Tyrone students
Agar.io quickly became one of Tyrone’s best go to games. Even though its been popular for almost six months, it still has a tight grip on many TAHS. Many students have been playing it in their free time during the day.
A couple of Tyrone’s best Agar.io players are Kendall Gardener and Tristian Zieders.
“It shows I’m better than other people,” said Zeiders when asked what makes Agar.io so fun.
Agar.io was created by 19 year old Matheus Valadares, a Brazilian developer. It became extremely popular upon it’s release on April 28th, 2015, with a mobile version being released on July 8th, 2015. The name Agar.io comes from the substance Agar, used to culture bacteria.
“Motivation from my friends and family, such as Christian Fink and Adam Zook,” said Dan Peterson when asked what motivates him to be so good at Agar.io.
The object for Agar.io is to survive as long as you can. You have to swallow other smaller cells, while trying not to be eaten yourself. If you get eaten, you just restart as a small cell again. The goal is to become the largest cell in the game. You are allowed to change the appearance of your cell by adding different skins to your cell. However, the larger you are the slower you move, making it more difficult to catch smaller, faster cells.
“I personally love playing as Donald Trump on Agar.io,” said Peterson when asked what character he likes playing as.
There are a lot of frustrating obstacles that you must avoid if you want to survive long. Other, larger cells are your biggest threat. These players are trying to eat you so they can get bigger. Another danger is the spiky green ‘viruses’ that are randomly placed in the game. Viruses will split up your cell into tiny pieces which other people can eat.
Players have a number of ways to increase their mass and get their name on the leaderboard. Pellets are food that your cell can eat and grow from. Eating pellets will slowly increase your mass. The best way to get a large cell is to consume smaller cells. Smaller cells are other people that are not yet bigger than you. If you eat them, you grow a lot faster than eating pellets.
If you’re ever bored in class or have some free time, make sure that you try out Agar.io.
