Penn State vs Ohio State

After what seems to be a magical season the Penn State Nittany Lions have an overall record of nine wins and two loses and are currently ranked eighth in the country and are also eighth in the College Football Playoff rankings.

But it didn’t start that way. The season began with key injuries on the defense and the offensive line the Nittany Lions lost their second game by three points in a nail biter with the Pitt Panthers. Then they lost the fourth game of the season to the Michigan Wolverines who are currently ranked third in the country.

Penn State is on a seven game winning streak, including a win against second ranked Ohio State on a blocked field goal returned for sixty yards for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter. This win was really a turning point for the program and the Blue and White were ranked for the first time since 2011.

Since their loss to the Wolverines, Penn State is on a seven game winning streak, including a win against second ranked Ohio State on a blocked field goal returned for sixty yards for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter. This win was really a turning point for the program and the Blue and White were ranked for the first time since 2011.

The Nittany Lions are currently 7-1 in the Big Ten Conference and tied for first in the East Division with Michigan and Ohio State. The last time Penn State won the Big Ten Championship was in 2008. If Michigan loses to Ohio State on November 26th and Penn State wins out from here they would win the East Division and play in the Big Ten Championship.

After the Nittany Lions shutout win over Rutgers winning 39-0 they prepare to face the Michigan State Spartans who currently have a record of three wins to eight losses and are 1-7 in the Big Ten Conference.

According to ESPN’s Football Power Index the blue and white have a 83.6% chance of winning this week against the Spartans. This would appear to be a easy win to Penn State but Michigan State seems to be finding their footing late in the season.  They only lost to second ranked Ohio State by one point last week.

If everything were to go the Nittany Lions way they would most likely play the fifth ranked Wisconsin Badgers in the Big Ten Championship.  The Badgers also have nine wins and two loses on the season and are 6-2 in the Big Ten Conference losing to Michigan and Ohio State. This would be a good game and one of the biggest for the Nittany Lions in years.

Even if things don’t go the Nittany Lions way this season it will set up a nice bowl game and build the program back up to it’s former glory for years to come.
