Tyrone Suffers OT Defeat vs. League Leading Bald Eagle

Tyrone suffered a heartbreaking 3-2 overtime defeat verses undefeated, league leading Bald Eagle.  Tyrone remains near the top of the Mountain League with a 4-2 record.

It always sucks to lose, but I would say this is the best game that we’ve played this year so far. I love how this team this year plays with passion and intensity

Offense ruled the first half of the game for both sides. Both teams easily ran through the opposing defenses trading shots but neither being able to land a blow. Finally with 15 minutes left within the half Junior Andrew Pearson was fouled on a run into the box awarding Tyrone a penalty shot. Corey Johnston scored on the shot propelling Tyrone forward with a 1-0 lead.

Shortly after Bald Eagle equalized on a man marking error by Tyrone. The first half ended with the score tied 1-1.

After half time both locked up on defense. With ten minute remaining Bald Eagle finally broke the silence. Bald Eagle took command of the lead after kneeing in a goal on a throw in.

Despite this setback Tyrone’s offense did not falter. Tyrone’s offense bombarded the Bald Eagle defense ripping shot after shot and finally scoring with three minutes left in the game. Corey Johnston scored the tying goal after receiving a through pass which split the defense from freshman Alex Taylor.

Unfortunately overtime did not go Tyrone’s way. Bald Eagle looked dominant for most of the ten minute period with little resistance from Tyrone. Bald Eagle finished the game with a unavoidable header on a corner.
