For the third time this season, the Golden Eagles found themselves down by a touchdown late in the fourth quarter, this time on the road against Penns Valley.

Just like they did in week one against Bellefonte and week four against Bald Eagle, the Golden Eagles stepped up with a big play to win.

A perfect 45 yard scoring strike from Brandon Lucas to Damon Gripp with 1:45 left made the score 27-21 and secured another exciting comeback win for the Golden Eagles.

Gripp had another dominating performance with 139 yards receiving on eleven catches, including the 45 yard game winner.

Penns Valley scored first on a blocked punt and a recovery in the endzone. But Penns Valley only held a 7-0 lead for a few minutes.

The Eagles responded quickly when tight end Keegan Gwinn reeled in a 22 yard touchdown pass from Lucas. A clean kick by Kendall Markley evened the score up at 7-7.

The touchdown for the Eagles was a confidence booster that helped them in the second quarter.

Halfway through the second quarter, the Eagles rallied for another touchdown. Senior Tommy Hicks steamrolled his way into the endzone on a one yard run. The extra point attempt was blocked by the Penns Valley defense giving Tyrone just a 13-7 lead going into halftime.

The third quarter was uneventful for both teams. It was a struggle to get to the endzone for both teams with strong defenses. But the fourth quarter was quite the opposite of the third.

The fourth quarter started with Penns Valley completing a 5 yard pass for a touchdown. The extra point was successful giving the Rams a 14-13 lead.

Tyrone answered back clutching to the narrow lead. To make up for the missed PAT the Eagles went for a 2 point conversion which was successful. The Eagles stayed ahead 21-14.

However, an explosive 95 yard kickoff return by Ripka put the Rams back on top and tipped the momentum their way. The Penns Valley special teams were excellent Friday night by scoring two touchdowns during the game.

The extra point tied the game at 21. It was up to the Tyrone offense to score for a win.

With only two minutes left the Eagles put together an explosive drive.

Receiver Damon Gripp caught a 45 yard pass and put some moves on his defenders to deliver another win for the Golden Eagles.

The Tyrone defense held out forcing the Rams to turn over the ball. The Eagles took a knee and finished the game 27-21. The Eagles play Philipsburg-Osceola this Friday.
