Each marking period two students from each class are honored as Renaissance Stars

High School Renaissance Stars for the 3rd marking period.

It’s that time of the school year, time to honor the third marking period Renaissance Stars. Each of the students below have been selected by a member of the TAHS faculty or staff due to their positive attitude, improvement, hard work and/or high achievement in the classroom.

FRESHMAN

“Elaina’s teachers commend her  for always completing her work, keeping all of her grades up, always being focused in class, and always being willing to help others. We want her to know we notice her kindness and politeness, both of which are a daily part of her character.”

Eagle Eye: What does it feel like to be a Renaissance Star?

Elaina Gleason: It’s an honor to be a Renaissance Star because there are many students who deserve that honor, but I was lucky enough to be chosen.

EE: What’s your favorite thing about Tyrone?

EG: My favorite thing about Tyrone would be the dedication of the teachers. They make it their priority to ensure each students’ success.

EE: What is your best subject in school?

EG: My best subject in school would be English.

 

Brendan Manis

“Brendan’s teachers have noticed a big improvement in his school work in the past few weeks. He shows a real commitment to having good attendance , doing all of his work, and staying focused in class. In some of his classes he is even working ahead.”

What does it feel like to be a Renaissance Star?

Brendan Manis: I’m proud of what I have become and glad people are noticing that.

What’s your favorite thing about Tyrone?

BM: Family and friends that support me.

What is your best subject in school?

BM: Math

Perry Gillespie

“Perry has done an excellent job of improving his grade this marking period in academic Algebra 2. I challenged him to do better and bring his grade up. He has worked really hard this marking period and improved his grade. That is a huge improvement. Perry has really made the effort to learn the material.”

Eagle Eye: What does it feel like to be a Renaissance Star?

Perry Gillespie: It makes me feel like my teachers actually care about student growth.

EE: What’s your favorite thing about Tyrone?

PG: The teachers are very nice.

EE:What is your best subject?

PG: Gym

Garett Matley

“Garett is a very intelligent young man who has an outstanding work ethic and has awesome people skills. He sets high expectations for himself in school and succeeds. He is very helpful to his classmates. Garett has a great sense of humor and interacts well with everyone. He has all the skills and characteristics of a successful health care professional! Keep up the great work Garett!”

Garrett Matley: It feels good knowing that someone recommended me for this award.

EE: What’s your favorite thing about Tyrone?

GM: They try their best to recognize the student’s accomplishments. 

EE:What is your best subject?

GM: Biology.

“Olivia is a very young lady. She balances work and school very well. She has really worked hard this marking period and her grade shows it. Ms. Mccaslin is always ready to help someone in need. She has a great sense of humor and interacts well with everyone. She has all the skills and characteristics it takes to be a great healthcare professional! Keep up the good work Olivia!”

I’m very thankful for the recognition of my hard work.

What’s your favorite thing about Tyrone?

Math with Mr. Shedd.

What is your best subject in school?

Health Tech

 Maddie Branstetter

“I have spent the last month on very challenging material in pre-calculus. Maddie has always been a very quiet student and my course has never been something she found very easy. However, she has really stepped up in the past month, by working so hard. On the last assessment, she was one of a few students to receive a 100%- this was one of the most challenging tests we’ve taken all year! I am very proud of Maddie.”

I feel appreciated and noticed for my hard work.

What’s your favorite thing about Tyrone?

The effort teachers and students give to make school fun.

What is your best subject in school?

Pre-Calculus and World Cultures

Chance Burke

“Chance continues to do his best and overcome any obstacles he faces. He attends GACTC Collision Repair, core classes at TAHS and is an active member of the football and baseball teams. He plans on attending Penn Tech in the fall. Chance has an amazing personality and adds a comedic flare to the classroom. He has improved immensely since 9th grade. His great personality and character will be missed after he graduates.”

What does it feel like to be a Renaissance Star?

I feel like I have improved a lot throughout the years at TASD.

What’s your favorite thing about Tyrone?

Sports and a small school setting.

What is your best subject in school?

Senior Angie Wilkins

Angela Wilkins

“I have Angela in Anatomy this year in which she has done an outstanding job. She is one of the most conscientious students I have ever had. She constantly studies and works to complete her assignments and tests with the upmost accuracy. She is very driven to achieve her maximum potential. She has maintained an ”A” average all year. Angela is such a cool kid.”

What does it feel like to be a  Renaissance Star?

It feels great to be recognized for all of my hard work.

What’s your favorite thing about Tyrone?

My favorite thing about Tyrone is all of the challenging dual enrollment courses they offer. They have helped prepare me for college.

What is your best subject in school?

Anatomy and Physiology
