Almost no one was happy about the 2016 Presidential election. Liberals were livid, conservatives were worried, and libertarians were depressed. Even SNL doesn’t like Trump. But nothing you say or do is going to change the fact that he is now our President.

Trying to get Trump out of office now is futile. We’ve all come to terms with the fact that Donald Trump is now our president, and so should you.

First, saying, “Trump is soooo misogynistic, Trump is soooo ignorant, Trump is soooo childish, etc, etc, etc”, over and over and over again gets soooo redundant. We get it. I promise you, we get it. So stop shoving your opinions down our throats or so help me I’m going to have a gag reflex all over your “Nasty Woman” shirt. If you think you’re so much better than Trump, take a shot at the presidency. Go ahead. Become a billionaire, build your own hotel, become the host of a widely popular TV show, and become President of the United States. If Donald Trump did it, it must be so easy, right? President Donald Trump has accomplished a lot in his lifetime and deserves a lot of respect.

Also, how many times do you have to claim that the polls were rigged before you take your Honda Civic to the Post Office, take your picture, grab your passport, and hightail it off to Canada? If that’s what you claimed you would do if Trump won the election, go ahead and do it. No one wants to hear “Trump couldn’t have won, the polls had to be rigged”. Everyone knows that the polls weren’t rigged. An article on Heavy.com suggests that exit polls were just not accurate. For example, “Statisticians say that exit poll data, while well-intentioned, is inherently flawed as a way to predict final vote totals”(Vankin). In fact, if anyone cheated in the election, it was probably Hillary “Grishenko” Clinton. But that’s another editorial for another class day.

Next, rioting and marching is not going to get you anywhere. Do you think a proud, stuck-up man like Trump is going to let your riots get him out of office? He’s the most powerful man in America, and do you think your little “Hands too small! Can’t build a wall!” chant is going to make him reconsider presidency? Or that maybe Congress is going to kick him out? What’s done is done, and no matter what you do, you cannot change it. Also, even actor Matthew McConaughey says it’s meaningless. “Well, they don’t have a choice now, he’s our President,”; McConaughey said. “It’s very dynamic and as divisive of an inauguration and time that we’ve ever had. At the same time, it’s time for us to embrace and shake hands with this fact and be constructive with him over the next four years.” You can’t argue with the King of Chrysler. So stop rioting. If you cared about the well being of your country so much, maybe you should stop burning it to the ground.

Trying to get Trump out of office now is futile. We’ve all come to terms with the fact that Donald Trump is now our president, and so should you. All of the name-calling, blaming, and riots you pull is counterproductive and looks bad on your part. In fact, not only does it make you look bad, it makes the party you represent and your own country look bad.
