Attention students: Enter the first annual Eagle Eye Short Story Contest!

The Tyrone Eagle Eye News is holding a Short Story Contest in March for students in grades 9-12.

Any student in grades 9-12 is eligible to enter.  Just submit your best short story to us!

The first place winner will receive a $25.00 gift card.

The second place winner will receive a $15.00 gift card.

And a $10.00 “People’s Choice Award” gift card will be awarded based on a poll on the Eagle Eye.

Special thanks to the Renaissance Club for providing the money to make the awards possible.

Submissions have no minimum page requirement, but the maximum length is twenty pages.

To be eligible to win, stories must be submitted online.

The deadline for submitting stories is March 21, 2014.

The stories will be judged by a panel of five student judges and four faculty judges.

The faculty judges are: Mrs. Deskevich, 9th grade English teacher, Mr. Rutter, 10th grade English teacher, Mr. Everhart, 11th grade English teacher, and Mrs. Beigle, 12th grade English teacher.

The student judges are: junior Arianna Scheidell, senior Bailey Christine, senior Seth Umholtz, senior Alyssa Benton, and senior Sarah Parker.

Stories will be judges based on one qualifying round in which stories will be judged holistically. The second round will be judged based on a set of guidelines and numerical scoring.
