This year’s Main Street Dance Company competition showcase was held on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at the Bellwood Area High School Auditorium.

The show consisted of performances in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, modern, and hip hop.

The Tyrone Area High School dancers representing Main Street are senior Sarah Christofer, junior Hanna Eakins, and freshman Nora Hoy.

After missing several public performances due to COVID, Tyrone junior Hanna Eakin could not be more excited to dance again.

“After not being able to have our showcase last year it has felt like there was something missing during last year’s season. We have all worked really hard the past couple of months to make these dances the best they can be,” said Eakin.

For many months during COVID the studio had to shut down completely. That meant no in-person practice, no showcase, and no competitions.

“Last year we did go to competitions but it didn’t feel normal without having the showcase and having the block scheduling where we had to leave right after we were done performing,” said Eakin.

Nora Hoy and her sister Paige will be hosting the Dazzling Dance Shoe Gala where shoes will be transformed into artwork. The audience and attendees will have the opportunity to vote on their favorites. Winners will be announced in June after the shoes have traveled around the area.

These talented dancers will also have the opportunity to dance at Grier soon, learning from professional instructors.

Proceeds from the ticket sales went to the Doug Miller family as he is courageously battling cancer.
