The Lady Eagles lost to the Penns Valley Rams in a grueling four-set match on the Ram’s home floor on Thursday, September 19.

“We played the first set focused and with good energy and won it. The next three sets were a different story and we struggled to pass,” said Assistant Coach Bob Obbenheim.

In the first set the Lady Eagles won 25-20.  The match started out fast paced but Tyrone lost momentum in the following three sets after key hitter Bri Foy had to leave the game due to injury.

The second match was a battle between the teams.

Penns Valley began to gain energy and quickly set the tone of the game. The Lady Eagles fought till the end, but the Rams won the second set 25-23.

In the third set the Penns Valley Rams boasted a terminating attitude and carried the lead the entire set.

The Rams were excellent from the service line and put the pressure on the Lady Eagles. Juniors Makenna Bauer and Mattie Cherry stepped up as leaders and kept the team in the match, but Penns Valley took the set with a score of 25-18.

In the fourth and final set the Lady Eagles worked for every point. They started to gain energy but by then it was too late. The Lady Rams defeated the Lady Eagles 25-23 in a nail-biting match.

The team agrees that mindset was the main obstacle in the match.

“We played with confidence in the beginning, but by the end we were too much in our heads. The game Thursday will give us a chance to get our mindsets right,” says Makenna Bauer.
