Tyrone had a rough week with back-to-back-to-back road matches at Central on January 13, at West Branch on January 14, and at rival Bellwood on January 15.
Unfortunately, the outcome was not good for the Golden Eagles, who lost all three matches, dropping their dual match schedule to 2-10 on the season.
Central 50, Tyrone 24
The Golden Eagles’ misfortune began at Central in the opening bout of the match when Tanner Walk gave up a takedown and a late four-point nearfall in the third period to lose a 12-0 major decision to Central’s Ty Matthews at 107.
In the next bout, Tyrone’s Jonah Wicker (114) saw a 7-2 lead on Central’s Nathan Morris disappear when Morris put Wicker on his back and got the fall in 3:37.
Tyrone’s Rhys Rawlings (160) scored the Golden Eagles’ first points of the match with a pin of Jeremiah Hartin 3:26.
“[Rhys] did what he was supposed to do,” Tyrone Head Coach Quenton Wright told the Altoona Mirror, “Rhys took his lumps this weekend (at the Mountaineer Duals) and wrestled really tough kids. To be able to get a match like that was good for him.”
Central forfeited at 172 to Mason VanAllman and to Kyler Suhoney at 189.
Tyrone’s Kyle Scott moved up to 215 and won by fall in 1:03.
