Eagle Eye Promposal Contest: A Props to Crocs Prom

Fiona and Jacob

Tyrone homeschooled junior Jacob Decker found a personal way to ask his swimming teammate Bishop Guilfoyle sophomore Fiona McConnell to prom.

Jacob decided to ask Fiona with crocs because they both have a love for them. He gave a hot pink pair ready at the swimming banquet with the croc studs “FIONA” and “PROM” on them. Fiona was very happy that someone would take that much time for her.

Promposer: Jacob Decker

Eagle Eye: Describe in detail how you asked them.

Jacob Decker: “I knew that Fiona and I both had a certain fondness for crocs so I figured that was a good place to start my idea. I then decided to use croc letter studs to spell out “FIONA PROM?” on top of the shoes. I put the shoes in a box and wrapped it. After all that, I brought it to the swim banquet and left it on her chair when she left for a moment.”

EE: Why did you choose this person to ask?

JD: “Fiona is one of my closest friends and when I heard she wanted to go, I figured I could help.”

EE: Where did you get the inspiration for the idea?

JD: “As far as I know, it’s a one of a kind idea. I just know that we both like crocs.”

EE: What relationship do you have with this person?

JD: “We’re close friends, I’ve been swimming with her for about two years now.”

Promposee: Fiona McConnell

Eagle Eye: Give your side of the story. Why do you think they asked you?

Fiona McConnell: “I think he asked me because we have known each other for two years now and have become really good friends through swimming!!”

EE: Describe in detail how you were asked and how you felt.

FM: “We were at a swim banquet for the Tyrone High School. My friend, Mae, who is also Jake’s sister, told me she wanted to go to the bathroom to fix her makeup and I went with. When we got back, there was a purple wrapped box on my chair. I opened it, and it was a green croc box with question marks all over it. Inside the box were hot pink crocs with the words “PROM” and “FIONA” on them. When I opened them I felt very happy that someone would take this much time to do something nice for me. I really appreciated it!!”

EE: Did you have any suspicions that you were going to be asked by them?

FM: “Yes I did have suspicions because Mae and I had talked about it for a little bit but I had no idea he was going to ask me that night.”

EE: Why should you win the contest?

FM: “We should win because the way Jake asked me was a very different and cool!!”
