Both teams got off to a slow start, scoring no goals in the first period. Finally, Dan Landon scored for BG at 6:04 into the second period, and again only five minutes later.

It wasn’t until the third period that Greater Johnstown rallied and put a puck in the net. With a 2-1 score heading into the last minute of the third, Greater Johnstown’s Trevor Pfeil scored with 53 seconds left in the game to tie the game and give both teams a point in the standings.

Bishop Guilfoyle 4, Hollidaysburg 2

On Thursday the 4-1-2 Marauders took on the 2-6-2 Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers.

Tyrone senior Nick Bonsell began the scoring for BG with a power play goal from the left point with 2:32 left in the first period.

“I didn’t see any other options so I just put it on net,” Bonsell told the Altoona Mirror after the game, “I just got a really lucky bounce. It hit off peoples legs and deflected in.”

Bonsell scored again just over half way through the second period on an assist from Tyrone freshman Dalton Berry who dumped the puck into the Hollidaysburg end and chased it down before passing to Bonsell for the shot.

“It was a bang-bang play.  One of those garbage goals they never show on SportsCenter,” Bonsell told the Altoona Mirror, “We started playing a lot better in the second and third periods working our breakouts and forechecks.”

Bishop Guilfoyle held the lead the entire game thanks to solid play by Tyrone goaltender Trent Bogert.
