After a season filled with hard work, personal bests, and steady improvement, the Tyrone Golden Eagle cross country teams capped off their 2025 season with strong performances at the District 6 Championships in Reedsville on October 25.
The boys finished sixth overall out of ten scoring teams, while the girls placed eighth out of nine, and posted several season-best times.
Leading the Golden Eagles was freshman Brenson Davis, placing 25th with a time of 18:23, and following right behind him was senior Nate Erickson, placing 27th with a time of 18:28.
Sophomore Gavin Brasher and senior Alex Brumbaugh came in not far behind Davis and Erickson with a 30th and 31st place finish. They nearly tied with Brasher, who ran 18:49.10, and Brumbaugh, who ran 18:49.30.
Rounding out the top five was freshman Jonah Wicker, placing 37th with a time of 19:12.
The team’s top five has never been this close together, with a spread of only 49 seconds, which is smaller than that of any other team.
“I remember glancing behind me around a turn and seeing my team so close together. I’d never seen us run this tightly, and it showed me that all our hard work had finally paid off. We weren’t just racing for ourselves, but for each other,” said Erickson.
Junior Eric Goodman and sophomore Nick Sutt finished off the team’s top seven, with Goodman placing 56th with a time of 20:51, and Sutt placing 61st with a time of 21:17.
The team also brought two JV runners.
Sophomore Brody Hoover placed eighth in the JV race with a time of 21:19.
Senior Tyke Beck placed 21st in the JV race with a time of 27:20.
VARSITY GIRLS
While the Lady Eagles did not have a full team of seven this meet, they had five, which is just enough to get a team score.
Out of the nine teams that scored, the Lady Eagles placed eighth with 177 points
Leading the Lady Eagles was freshman Ella Savino, who placed 16th with a time of 22:04. As a freshman, her placement this close to the top shows strong potential for future years to qualify for states.
Freshman Addison Davis and Hallie Troutman placed 36th and 37th, with Davis running 25:00 and Troutman running 25:17.
Sophomore Lilly Ammerman placed 45th with a time of 27:04.
Sophomore Sophia Raneri placed 52nd with a time of 28:43.

Season Summary
VARSITY BOYS:
For the 2025 season, the varsity boys’ win record was 9 – 6 – 1
Looking at the varsity boys’ side, they had a very strong season; they won most of their meets, and the meets they lost were all relatively close.
The team improved a lot throughout the season and became very competitive against other teams later in the season.
Two standout runners were freshman Brenson Davis and sophomore Gavin Brasher.
Davis was only a freshman, and he was able to work his way up to the very top, and has even been the team’s first runner a few times.
Brasher has improved drastically this season; he went from running around a high 19-minute 5k to a low-mid 18-minute 5k. He went from being just barely in the top 5 for the team to now being a key member.
Both Davis and Brasher are on the soccer team, as well, and occasionally had games and meets on the same day. They didn’t get much recovery and were constantly having games and races, but they were still able to be some of the best runners on the team.
The team had three seniors: Nate Erickson, Alex Brumbaugh, and Tyke Beck, and this will affect the team negatively next year, especially since Brumbaugh was the number one runner, and Erickson was third.
Even with three seniors leaving, there is definitely still a lot of potential for the team in the upcoming years. Most of the team was freshmen and sophomores, and they were some of the best on the team. Many upcoming jr high runners will be freshmen next year, so the team will have lots of runners and should be very strong next year.
VARSITY GIRLS:
The varsity girls’ win record was 5 – 11
While the varsity girls’ record was not as good as the boys, they still had some standout individuals, two of whom were freshmen Ella Savino and junior Sophia Witkamp, who often led the team and and usually placed well in bigger meets.
They are losing one senior, Grace Corl, but just like the boys, multiple junior high runners will become freshmen next year and make the team more competitive.
Just like the boys, most of the team were freshmen and sophomores, so there is significant room for improvement over the next several years.
JUNIOR HIGH:
Team scores were usually not tracked for junior high, but individually, there were many good performances.
Sage Harbst had a big impact on the team. She won almost every meet and even some invitationals. She is only in middle school and is faster than most high school runners. She even has a realistic shot of breaking the high school record in a few years.
Ryan Rimmer was one of the top runners on the boys’ side. The thing that put him apart from everyone else, though, was his kick. At the end of races, his sprint was so much faster than others that he often passed up to ten runners in the final stretch, making them look like they were jogging.
Jayden Savino also had a great season and was often the team’s first runner.
Ian Erickson had a great season as well. While he was not the fastest on the team, he improved drastically from last year and had consistent improvement similar to his brother, Nate.
Most of the team will be high schoolers next year and will hopefully make a strong impact in years to come.
