The season came to a close for the Tyrone swim team this past weekend at the District 6 Championship meet at Penn State University’s McCoy Natatorium with senior Mikayla Harris, junior Emily Beam and Bishop Guilfoyle junior Ben McConnell leading the way for the Golden Eagles.

Coach Tom Getz took 13 successful swimmers that had met the time requirements earlier in the season to the District 6 meet on Friday February 27th and Saturday February 28th.

The group of swimmers was made up of swimmers from Tyrone, Bellwood, and Bishop Guilfoyle.

“We had a rough time keeping up with other teams when it came to a team score due to our lack of numbers. We only had 13 swimmers go to districts, which is a low number compared to other schools who had over 20 swimmers go,” said senior swimmer Samantha Aungst.

In AA team rankings, on the girls side, Richland High School won the overall meet as a team with a final team score of 201. On the boys side, Bellefonte High School won the overall meet as a team with a final team score of 262.

The Tyrone girls team was ranked overall 8/17 with a final team score of 72 with 7 Tyrone girls on the team, and the Tyrone boys team was ranked overall 9/12 with a final team score of 43 with 6 Tyrone boys on the team.
