Women: Tattoos and Piercings
Are tattoos and piercings now classy on women?
Women – rich, poor, small, big, famous, small town girls. One in every five Americans have a tattoo. Tattoos and piercings have becoming very popular and are becoming normal and classy.
Tattoos have become a part of fashion, an accessory if you will. Piercing are also part of the trend. They are a way to express yourself and show your true colors. Some girls even get the same tattoo as celebrities.
In the New York Times John Raftery, a tattoo artist at Fun City Tattoos in New York, said “Here in New York, people want something that’s more different or makes them feel extraordinary in some way.”
When Rihanna, music artist, gets a new tattoo many girls come in asking for the same tattoo. Recent surveys by the American Medical Association shows that twenty three percent of women have tattoos and seventy two percent of women have piercings.
Tattoos and piercings have dated back to early as 2500 BC. If women have been getting their body uniquely decorated since before this generation was even born, then why are they considered unclassy?
Some people go over the top and get full body tattoos or their entire face and body pierced. That is unprofessional, but a couple piercings and tattoos are not. Tattoos and piercings are not hurting others. It is not their body, it is yours, you are free to make your own choices.
People need to learn to accept others for who they are and allow them to express themselves and spread their wings. Who are you to judge others for a body that is not even yours? Piercings are just an accessory in womens wardrobe like a necklace or earrings. Other people say they are considered unclassy but really they are a beautiful masterpiece of breath taking art. We should appreciate the courageous women that get these works of outstanding artistry on their body.
