Tyrone Splits Against Bellefonte and Clearfield

Tyrone played both Bellefonte and Clearfield during the week of April 25th, with a split decision for the middle of the week matchups, taking an 8-0 win over Clearfield, but dropping the game to Bellefonte in a devastating 11-1 loss.

The win over Clearfield was highlighted by a high-scoring, power-hitting lineup, and near-perfect defense, with only one error being made during the seven-inning showdown.

Ross Gampe pitched a picture-perfect complete game shutout, giving up only three hits, striking out five and only walking one, and doing it all in 91 pitches.

Tyrone showcased their solid offense with 10 hits, with two doubles from Landon Hamer. A big part of this offensive show came from AJ Coleman and Landon, who combined for 7 of the 10 hits on the day.

Seniors Zac Legars and Ross Gampe both added a hit of their own, along with Sophmore Kendall Lehner roping a single to get in on the action.

Tyrone showcased what they’re truly capable of when they put their bats to work.

The loss against Bellefonte was much less exciting though, however, with the game getting away from them a little bit in the bottom half of the sixth.

Tyrone took an early lead in the third, but the Red Raiders responded with six of their own. Tyrone didn’t give up and continued to rally, collecting six hits on the day, but they couldn’t string anything substantial together.

Tyrone’s pitching couldn’t hold up against Bellefonte’s bats, with pitchers Landon Postreich, AJ Coleman, and Nathaniel Patterson only each pitching for two innings or less, but only giving up a combined eight hits on the day.

Tyrone’s record advances to 7-7 after these games.
