Tyrone Sophomores Place at Ultimate Warrior Tournament

Two Tyrone sophomores placed at the Ultimate Warrior wrestling tournament in West Branch on January 25-26th.

Hunter Walk placed 5th and Tommy Hicks placed 8th.

“I was pretty confident that I would place in the tournament,” said Walk, “My mind set going it the tournament was to win it. I was pretty excited to place, but I wish I would have won it.”

Fellow sophomore Tommy Hicks placed 8th, winning his first match of the day with a pin He lost his second match, went into consultation bracket and and won his first match and lost his second, but ended his second day on the podium.

“I went into this tournament wanting to prove everyone wrong and not many people thought I would place, but I just love to prove those people wrong,” said Hicks.

Other Tyrone wrestlers that competed in the tournament were Alex Weaver, Brandon Ixtepan, Hunter Walk, Jack Lewis and Noah Spankle.

As a team Tyrone placed 28th place out of thirty-one schools, putting 32 points on the board.
