Tyrone majorettes and color guard hold their annual home show

The Tyrone majorettes and color guard teams held their home competition on Saturday where 43 teams showed up to compete.

The majorettes perform to the song “Angles” by David Archuleta and dedicate their season to their coach’s sister, Jennifer Headings, who passed away a few days before this past Christmas.

The color guard team performs to the song “Been to Long” by Emmy Rossum.

Although teams cannot place at their home competitions, they still get judged and scored.

The majorettes are against three other teams including Hempfield who scored a 62.96, Saltsburg who scored a 62.14 and Elizabeth Forward who scored a 53.5 out of a possible 100.

Tyrone is in the lead of their category after scoring a 68.52.

Tyrone seniors Megann Koegler, Amber Chamberlin and Marin Grabill all performed senior solos as a farewell to their final home show.

“The atmosphere was exciting because we had over 40 groups there, and with that many groups you tend to have a huge crowd,” said Chamberlin. “I think as a group we did well and we got the score we hoped for. It was a sad moment for the seniors because it’s the last time we will perform in this school.”

The group’s next competition is at Windber High School this Saturday. The Majorettes perform at 2:00 and the guard performs at 5:30.
