Tyrone Lady Eagles soar over Bald Eagle 64-26

Leading scorer Finnley Christine.

The Tyrone Lady Eagles started off slow against the Bald Eagle Lady Eagles on Friday night, but came out with a 64-26 win on Friday, January 9.

“I thought we played sluggish both offensively and defensively,” said head coach Luke Rhoades. “I did not think we rebounded as well as we need to.”

Junior Finnley Christine was the leading scorer with 20 points, followed by sophomore Kasey Engle who had 13.

“We had a slow start, but we were able to refocus and pull ahead with a big win,” said Christine. “Now we need to move on to Penns Valley where we can’t start sluggish or the outcome will be different.”

Some good teamwork allowed Tyrone to regroup and pull out a lead of 19-6 at the end of the first.

The second quarter was even better as Tyrone hit some vital shots.

They ended the half only allowing Bald Eagle to score 10 more points opposed to their 17.

The second half was filled with a lot of intensity, as Bald Eagle’s coach got a technical for arguing calls which allowed Tyrone’s Kasey Engle to sink two foul shots.

Tyrone kept the lead and ended the third quarter with a 60-21 lead.

“We started off very sluggish but were able to overcome that and finish strong,” said Engle.

Tyrone continued to play strong and ended the game with a 64-26 win.

Their next game is tonight against Penns Valley at 7:30 in Tyrone’s Middle School gym.
