JV Baseball Falls to Bellefonte

With their win the previous Monday the Boys JV team was eager to head into their next game and secure their second win of the season.

In the home opener of the season, with many freshmen playing their first JV home game, they wanted to put on a good game for parents and fellow students alike.

Bellefonte came to play, quickly using their bats to score runs and leaving Tyrone down by a considerable margin. The defense just wasn’t the way it had been the previous game and it showed in the score after several innings. But some hope still remained in the final innings of the game.

Tyrone’s players didn’t go down without a fight though, as they used their bats to bring the score back within seven to secure several more innings of play.

This left matters difficult for Tyrone’s coaches though, as they needed fresh arms to keep the game in hand so as to have a chance at keeping Bellfonte at bay and scoring more runs. This left several of the starters benched as rules determined that they couldn’t re-enter the game.

While fresh arms seemed to be helpful at first, it wasn’t enough. Bellfonte really brought it in the final innings. With several more hits and more defensive plays, they served the Junior Varsity team its first loss of the season.

“The bats just weren’t there today,” said Marvin Murray, the JV head coach.

The boys head into the next several days with an approach of improvement so as to avoid some of the mistakes they endured during their loss. They will practice hard in preparation for their upcoming game against Clearfield on Monday, April 3rd.
