Tyrone Indoor Percussion Places Third and Star-Lite Twirlers Place First at ACC Championships

The Tyrone indoor percussion ensemble performed at the Tournament of Indoor Association Atlantic Coast Championships this past weekend and placed third in their division with a total score of 86.10 in the preliminary round for the percussion competition. The Indoor percussion ensemble was able to achieve a score high enough to be placed into the finals competition where they placed third with a score of 87.30.

 The Tyrone Star-Lite Twirlers traveled to Wildwood as 2017 Atlantic Coast Champions in their division. The Tyrone Star-Lite Twirlers achieved a score of 92.66 and won their second consecutive Atlantic Coast Championship in their second season of competition.

An independent twirling group by the name of FAME Performing Arts placed in third in their division in their preliminary round to make it into the finals competition. FAME Performing Arts placed in third with a score of 84.48.

After the competition in Wildwood, New Jersey, the 2018 indoor season is complete. The indoor percussion ensemble had a successful competition season after improving from last season.

“The students worked really hard this year and it showed at Wildwood. They played with a lot of energy, emotion, and musicality. The audience really enjoyed the show. I hope next year to keep building on our successes and improve the ensemble even more to continue an educationally and emotionally rewarding program.,” said Hock.

The indoor percussion ensemble, the Tyrone Star-Lite Twirlers, and FAME Performing Arts hope to continue their successes in the 2019 Tournament of Indoor Association season.
