Tyrone Improvement Group Selling Banners to Honor Veterans

Ellie Oakes

The Tyrone Improvement Group is selling banners to honor local veterans in downtown Tyrone.

The Tyrone Improvement Group hung banners depicting Tyrone veterans in Tyrone as a way to beautify the downtown streets while also honoring local veterans and those currently serving in the armed forces.

The popular project is now in its second year and the sponsors are accepting new orders.

The Eagle Eye became involved with the project last fall by writing profile stories of several veterans and active-duty soldiers on the banners and placing QR codes on the light poles under each banner to create an interactive walking tour that tells the stories of those who served.

The cost to sponsor a banner is $75, with a $25 fee to hang the banner in the community. Additional banners after the first can be purchased for $50.

There is no additional charge for Eagle Eye profile stories, the only requirement is that the family and/or the veteran be willing to do an interview and share information with the writers.

All profits from the project go to veteran organizations to support those in need.
