Tyrone Handles the Bison Herd with 3-1 Win, loses 0-1 to 6A Dubois

Tyrone 3 – Clearfield 1

Tyrone Boys Soccer beat rival Clearfield 3-1 in a physical home game led by sophomore Corey Johnston’s second hat-trick in 3 games.

“It felt great to score another three goals,” said sophomore Corey Johnston, “But it felt even better to help contribute to a team win.”

Tyrone struggled defensively early letting in a Clearfield goal seven minutes into the first half.

Tyrone recovered quickly though equalizing the score 4 minutes later. Corey Johnston guided in a rebounded ball after freshman Alex Taylor’s shot bounced off the crossbar.

The offensive onslaught of Tyrone continued through the rest of the first half culminating with another Corey Johnston Goal assisted by Andrew Pearson. At halftime the score stood 2-1 in favor of Tyrone.

Corey Johnston and Tyrone’s dominance over the bison continued into the second half. 20 minutes into the second half Corey Johnston banged home a shot outside the 18 after the Clearfield defense gave him space completing his hat-trick. The final score was 3-1.

Tyrone 0 – Dubois 1

Tyrone shows maturity and experience in respectable 0-1 loss to six A Dubois.

Tyrone was able to contain Dubois offense for most of the first half surviving a ridiculous ten corner kicks. Tyrone marked Dubois well on corners snuffing out any movement and header attempt.

On the offensive end Tyrone created multiple chances but were quickly broken up by the strong Dubois defense.

Shortly before the end of the first half Dubois snuck in the only goal of the game after a keeper error.

Throughout the second half Tyrone continued to play stingy defense but struggled to put the ball in the back of the net. The final score was 0-1.
