The Tyrone Golden Eagles golf team took third out of the five teams at last Tuesday’s Laurel Highlands match at Sinking Valley Country Club, beating Huntingdon and Bellwood, while falling to Hollidaysburg and Bishop Guilfoyle.
This match officially marked the halfway point of the Golden Eagles’ season. They have no more league matches remaining in their 2025 season.
Tyrone senior Kaleb Sweitzer and freshman Blake Sweitzer tied as Tyrone’s top finishers. Both golfers carded an 83, followed by Preston Long with an 88, Ty Uplinger with a 90, and Caleb Miller with a 92.
“Overall, I believe we did not play our best, and there is a lot of room for improvement. I’m still proud of us, though,” freshman Blake Sweitzer said.
The four other teams were Hollidaysburg, Bellwood, Huntingdon, and Bishop Guilfoyle.
“I hope to finish the season strong and put together some solid rounds in the postseason,” assistant coach Doug Sweitzer said.
The golf team’s next match is the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference championship on September 18th at Ebensburg Country Club.
