Tyrone Freshman Lucia Isenberg: Underwater Artist

Tyrone freshman Lucia Isenberg’s passion for swimming and photographic eye have drawn her to become a member of the varsity swim team and a wedding photographer. After years of practice Isenberg refined her hobbies into talents.

For the past five years Isenberg has been swimming with the YMCA and now, as a freshman, she swims on the school’s varsity team. Over the years, Isenberg has become a very accomplished swimmer competing in the district competition several times and even making it to the state competition with her relay team. Isenberg credits her success to her competitive attitude.

I’m really competitive. I like the fact that [swimming] is an individual sport.

“I’m really competitive. I like the fact that it’s an individual sport. I can’t rely on anyone else, I can’t blame anyone else for my own mistakes, and the reward of doing well on your own is a million times greater.”

Isenberg also joined a traveling team last year but had to take a leave due to a sports-related injury. Throughout the duration of the season, she lettered in swimming and qualified for districts for the 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly, 200 IM, and 200 medley relay. However Isenberg was unable to compete due to unforeseen circumstances.

Isenberg is also passionate about photography. She takes photos as often as possible working as a wedding photographer and also taking photos for Eagle Eye whenever she can. To seesome of Lucia’s favorite photos, click the slideshow above.

Lucia has been taking wedding photos for about a year now. About ten years ago, Isenberg’s mother, Victoria, started a photography business. A young Sarah Dane had an interest in snapping pictures, so Victoria took Dane under her wing. Victoria began to go back to school to become a teacher, and Dane took over. As Lucia got older, she began to take an interest in photography. This past summer she started attending weddings with Dane to take pictures.

I love being able to capture a moment for people to cherish forever. I really like candids, because a lot of people aren’t sure how to pose and don’t like to have their picture taken, but then you get pictures of people just doing their thing, and that’s great

Any time Sarah books a wedding with permission from the employer, Lucia goes along with her capturing some of life’s happiest moments.

“I love being able to capture a moment for people to cherish forever. I really like candids, because a lot of people aren’t sure how to pose and don’t like to have their picture taken, but then you get pictures of people just doing their thing, and that’s great” said Isenberg.

Isenberg’s favorite part of photography is editing. “I really like editing. I feel like just about anyone can get a good shot once in a while, but the real creativity and talent is shown through the editing. There are so many things that you can do with just one picture, and there is no wrong or right.” said Isenberg.

As a wedding photographer Isenberg thinks her greatest strength is her ability to connect with people. In the future, Isenberg plans to be a Marine biologist where she can use her photography skills to good use.

“I think my best strength is probably my ability to connect with people and get them to pose or have them move a certain way. It is so neat to meet so many people and see how different their dream days plan out.”
