Tyrone delivers on senior night
Golden Eagle boys’ basketball got a great Mountain League win over Bald Eagle Area on Senior night last Thursday night. The Eagles really put it to BEA beating them 84-45.
The game started out the same way it ended, with Tyrone exploding offensively. Tyrone was out scoring BEA 42-20 at the end of the first half.
Tyrone got the win from the help of senior big man who put up 21 points going a perfect 5-5 at the foul line and hit 8 from down low. It was a pretty great final game in Tyrone gym.
“It was so much fun playing with the younger guys and Zack for the last time on our home court. It was a great team win with everyone getting involved,” said Politza.
Tyrone senior Zack Soellner who went 1-1 from beyond the arc finished with 3 points and had a great season at home starting every game from Tyrone along with fellow senior Anthony Politza.
“I had a great experience and opportunity to play with these guys in our home gym,” said Soellner.
Tyrone has a full swing of momentum for the play offs after getting the win against BEA.
“I can’t express how happy I am about getting this win for our seniors, Zack and Anthony on senior night [and] how much those guys mean to our basketball program,” said Tyrone Head Coach George Gripp.
Tyrone improved their record to 14-7 and sit at number three in the Mountain League and as the number five seed in the District 6 AA playoff bracket.
Tyrone plays Bishop McCort on Friday night in the second round at Bishop Carroll High School. Tip off is 7:30 pm.
