Tyrone crushes the Wildcats this week

Oliver turns his beastmode on.

The Tyrone Golden Eagles did it yet again with a crushing victory against the Central Mountain Wildcats.

“It was a good win despite their record; they’re a tough school and good all-around athletes,” said Tyrone head coach Steve Guthoff.

The first half of the game was close.  In the first quarter, Tyrone allowed Central Mountain’s Turchetta and English one rushing touchdown each.

“The first two series, we didn’t do so well,” said Coach Guthoff, “After the first two series we had to adjust.”

And adjust they did, holding the Wildcats to only to one more touchdown for the game.

Tyrone’s offense couldn’t have been stopped. Senior James Oliver rushed for 205 yards on only 19 carries. Senior Erik Wagner rushed for 64 yards, passed for 97 yards: with two touchdowns to Nick Getz.

“Erik is making good decisions, and I am just really pleased with the offensive line,” said Coach Guthoff.

Tyrone’s defense had a rough time stopping the rushing game of Nigel English, but held him to only 128 yards and only one rushing touchdown.

Duane Boone recorded 3 sacks.  “Chasing down a record is kind of hard,” says Boone on his attempt to break Scott Gummo’s record of thirteen sacks. “Scott Gummo, you better watch out,” said Boone.

Tyrone is set to square off against Penns Valley this Friday at home, which is also Tyrone’s Homecoming event!

It’s going to be a matter of us feeling confident that we improved from last week” said Coach Guthoff on this week’s opponent, “It will truly be a battle.”
