Tyrone Band Places Second at Chapter Championships at IUP

A good season for the Tyrone Golden Eagle Marching Band got even better as they placed second at the Chapter 11 championships on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

The bands competing directly with Tyrone from group 1A were Juniata Valley High School, Mount Union High School, Somerset High School, Westmont Hilltop High School, Windber Area High School.

The competition began with the Juniata Valley High School Marching Band at 1:00 who placed sixth with a score of 82.62.

Tyrone received a score of 91.26 and placed second behind Windber Area High School who scored a 91.33. The band received an award for high music by placing first in all music captions.

The band has a week to prepare for the Atlantic Coast Championships on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Central Dauphin High School. The band will face a total of 25 other schools who are attending the show.

“The band really needs to work hard next week and I think they can do even better at ACC’s if they put their minds to it and stay focused,” said Hock.

The TAHS Band is currently ranked fourth out of 37 marching bands from Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia for the Atlantic Coast Championship Series. The first place ranked band in the Atlantic Coast Championship Series Pemberton High School. Tyrone is currently behind three other schools for the first place position in the rankings.
