Teacher of the Week: Ronda Dodson

Ms. Dodson teaches seventh-grade science at Tyrone Area Middle School.  She is recognized for her spunky personality and enthusiastic teaching methods. Thank you for everything you do for us Mrs. Dodson and congrats on being picked for Teacher of the Week!

Eagle Eye: What’s your favorite movie?

Ronda Dodson: Sound of Music – I got hooked after seeing it as a play

EE: Why did you become a teacher?

RD: I really love science and my goal is to get kids to love science just as much as I do.

EE: Why did you choose the subject you teach?

RD: I LOVE science.

EE: What’s your favorite thing about teaching at Tyrone?

RD: The community feel in the school building. I love being part of a team and getting to collaborate with some amazing people.

EE: What are some of your favorite hobbies and interests?

RD: I enjoy spending time with my family, spending time outdoors, and having coffee.

EE: What is some good advice you’ve been given as a teacher?

RD: Don’t take it personally; don’t get discouraged if your lesson didn’t go right the first time – take time to reflect on what you did and what you can do differently next time.

EE: What’s the hardest part of teaching and why?

RD: Time management! It seems like we always have a never-ending pile of papers to grade, lessons to plan, and paperwork to do.

EE: What are some jobs held before you got into teaching?

RD: I worked my way through college working at Subway and I detailed cars.

EE: What is something that students might be surprised to find out about you?

RD: I have nine siblings.

EE: What is your spirit animal? Why?

RD: Puggle – we both like to relax and enjoy food 🙂
