The Lady Eagles fought their way to a road win over Philipsburg, 68-51 on Friday night.

Senior Sydney Shaw led all scorers with 31 points, while freshman Stephanie Ramsey added 10.

Shaw is now just 5 points shy of her 1,000 career point.

The Lady Eagles also managed to play very good defense against PO’s best player, Halle Herrington, leaving her 17 points shy of her 2,000th career point.

“We played good defense on Halle and didn’t let her get her 2,000 on us,” said Shaw.

Philipsburg was very scrappy, but Herrington’s 26 points were no match to upset the Lady Eagles.

The Lady Eagles outscored the Lady Mounties 21-3 in the second quarter, but let them hang around in the third with PO outscoring Tyrone 15-11.

One of the goals the Lady Eagles have set for the upcoming games is to not play so slow after half time. They have been struggling lately with not being able to come back out and hit shots in the third quarter.

Despite head coach Luke Rhoades receiving a technical at the end of the game due to a bad call, the Lady Eagles were able to get out with a win and no injuries.

The Lady Eagles play this Wednesday at home against Central. All eyes will be on Sydney Shaw as she is expected to score her 1,000th career point on Wednesday night. Varsity tips off at 7:30; JV is at 6:00.
