TAHS FFA Members Attend First Year Member Conference

Nine of Tyrone Area FFA Chapter 1st-year members attended the Pennsylvania FFA Fall Leadership Conference (FLC) on October 4 held at the Blair County Convention Center in Altoona, PA. The state-level conference was hosted by the Pennsylvania State FFA Officers and Penn State’s Teach Ag Students.

“FLC was a great opportunity to learn more about FFA and make new friends,” said attendee Alyssa Houck.

The 2022 Pennsylvania FFA State theme “Unwritten” kicked off for the more than 520 conference attendees who were on the race course where they started their journeys in FFA.

Alyssa Houck, Austin Beamer, Catie Sklenar, Sarah Weakland, Navaeh Hollabaugh, Reilly Rawlings, Frances Weaver, Bailey Woomer, and Jancie Gilliland were selected from more than fifteen Tyrone Area FFA 1st-year members who signed up for the conference.

“We learned about different opportunities in FFA and agriculture,” said sophomore Navaeh Hollabaugh.

The theme of the event was “Unwritten life plans. Unwritten opportunities. Unwritten stories.” The Pennsylvania State FFA Officers believe each student has their own specific path in life and in agriculture. Through conferences and workshops, they are providing members opportunities to write their own stories this year.

“No matter how ambitious your goals are, you should still go for them,” said freshman Reilly Rawlings, as he created personal goals during the teamwork session.
