Swim Team Opens Season Tonight vs. Bellefonte

The Tyrone Swim Team is ready to take on the 2019-2020 swim season. Last year, both the boys and girls team took second at districts and hope to continue to improve.

“Overall, I’m very excited about the upcoming season. The girl’s team has a lot of returning letter winners that I expect to lead us to another successful season and hopefully another top three finish at districts. The boy’s team is a little thin in numbers but I still expect them to compete and have a strong showing at districts in March,” said head coach Tom Getz.

I hope to make memories like I have the past 2 years, good times to be swam, and some records to be broken, and the team to overall have a good season,

— said Madison Coleman

The girl’s team went 9-1 last year with their only loss from district 9 champions Clearfield.

“I hope the team gets better this season and we beat our times from last year,” said junior Sarah Hoover.

The girl’s team has seven seniors with experience from previous years and hopes to finish in the top three again at districts this year with the experience they have.

“I hope to make memories like I have the past two years, good times to be swam, and some records to be broken, and the team to overall have a good season,” said junior Madison Coleman.

Although the boy’s team has low numbers they still hope to improve individually.

“Though the boy’s team is small, I know that of us are capable of great things and I think that if we try to focus on individual improvement, we can succeed as a team,” said junior, Hunter Gregg.

The first meet is tonight against Bellefonte at 6 pm at home.
