Staff Editorial: Support the Eagles!
The Eagle Eye Editorial Staff addresses the issue of falling attendance at the football games
Tyrone has always been known for having the best football fans in the area.
However, lately we’ve been slipping. We’ve been outnumbered at away games and we fail to even have a student section during the home games. Last week at home we were nearly outdone by the Chestnut Ridge fans.
“I remember running out onto the field myself and hearing the crowd roar,” said former player and current head football coach Jason Wilson in a recent Facebook post.
“I urge anyone that can to take a couple hours of your Friday evening and come support the hard work that these student athletes put in all week. I also know the Band and Cheerleaders would greatly appreciate your support,” added Wilson.
We agree with Coach Wilson: what has happened to our school spirit?
Fifteen years ago, our legendary football team won a state title, and in the past four years, they have won two district championships.
Our football team works hard every day to perform for the community. We, the student body of Tyrone High School, and the community of Tyrone, need to support our team.
So lets show our school and community spirit and fill the stands tonight against Huntingdon. Be the 12th man!
