Shultz Mows Down Mounties, Eagles Move to 9-0

The Tyrone Golden Eagles remained perfect Thursday night as they defeated recently undefeated PO by a score of 8-2 to claim the number one spot in AAA and move up to the number three team in all of PA.

Tyrone was led by sophomore Rodney Shultz who went the distance allowing 2 runs on 9 hits while striking out 4. With the victory Shultz’s record moves to 3-0 on the season with a 1.47 ERA.

“Our offense really came through and hit the ball well and the defense, outfield and infield made every play needed to hold their offense back,” said Rodney Shultz.

PO scored their only runs of the game in the bottom of the third inning when they put up two runs cutting Tyrone’s lead to only one run.

After the Golden Eagles were held scoreless after the next two innings their bats came back alive in the fifth inning as they put up another three run inning, taking a well protected 6-2 lead.

Tyrone added another insurance run in both the 6th and 7th innings taking a 8-2 lead going into the bottom of the final inning with their ace going back out looking to close out the game for Tyrone.

The Golden Eagles aim to keep their win streak going as they welcome in another tough Mountain League opponent in the Central Dragons while also looking to keep moving up the list trying to get to the top spot in all of Pennsylvania.
