Senior Marching Band Spotlight: Rae Bonsell and Desiree Sparks

At the conclusion of this season, the Tyrone Area Marching Band will say goodbye to two seniors, Baritone players Rae Bonsell and Desiree Sparks.  Both have been in the Tyrone Marching Band for three years.

We will miss Rae and Dez very much,” said TAHS Band Director David Hock, “I hope they have fun, fulfilling lives after high school and stay in band wherever they go. Good luck Rae and Dez!”      

Senior Rae Bonsell

What instrument do you play?

Rae: “Bari Sax”

What is you favorite band memory?

Rae: “My first ACC’s when we got 3rd place”

What is your favorite school subject?

Rae: “Art, Choir, Concert Band and Jazz, French”

What is your favorite animal?

Rae: “Cat”

Do you enjoy band? Why?

Rae: “Yes, music has always really touched me and getting to play music everyday is great.”

How long have you been in band?

Rae: “Three years”

Do you plan on going to college? If so, where?

Rae: “Yes, Seattle University or Antioch University, or Olympia College.”

Do you plan to continue band in college?

Rae: “Possibly”

What is your favorite color?

Rae: “Black”

On a scale of 1-10 how fun is band?

Rae: “An ‘8’ because I get tired!”

Are you excited for graduation?

Rae: “Yes and No. It’s bittersweet”

Dez: “Baritone”

What is you favorite band memory?

Dez: “My first Tyrone Marching Band competition.”

What is your favorite school subject?

Dez: “Lunch”

What is your favorite animal?

Dez: “Horse”

Do you enjoy band? Why?

Dez: “Yes, the music is fun and exciting.”

How long have you been in band?

Dez: “Three years”

Do you plan on going to college? If so, where?

Dez: “Yes, Colorado University.”

Do you plan to continue band in college?

Dez: Yes, I would like to be in the band.”

Dez: “Red”

Dez: “100!”
