School Board approves new eagle statue and course book at January monthly meetings

2014-2016 Tyrone Area School District School Board

They Tyrone School board approved a stone Eagle Statue that will be placed at the high school during their monthly work session and regular session meetings in January.  The statue will be paid for by the Class of 1962.

High school principal Mr. Tom Yoder reviewed the progress students on preparing for the Keystone tests. He also discussed the Keystone’s taken in December that he expects went very well.

The board approved field trips including District Choir, which took place on January 8th to the 10th.

The Course Description/Scheduling Booklets for the 2014-2015 school year were also approved.

The Nutrition Group also provided the board members with a dinner at 5:30 in the Eagle Inn in recognition of School Board Month.

In other business, Rebecca Ingram and Emily Winters were elected as long- term substitute teachers.

Finally, school board student representative Seth Umholtz discussed Snowball, the winter formal. Umholtz reported that the event was a suceess.  He also informed the board that the midterms exams occured despite the snow days and delays.

Fellow student board representrative Hope Wilson informed the board of District Chorus’s success. Eight students went to District Chorus. Junior Conner Stroud will be advancing to Regional Chorus next month.
