EE: What compelled you to take this photo?

MM: “The big pencil (Washington Monument) is my favorite monument, so since I was in the area I had to capture it.”

EE: What is your take on photography? How do you feel about it?

MM: “I really enjoy capturing moments to hold on to memories; they’re timeless this way.”

EE: What is your favorite thing about the photo?

MM: “That there were so many different things I love in one picture (Big pencil, D.C, sun, cherry blossoms).”

EE: Do you have anything else to add?

MM: “I’m happy to share my favorite place and happy memories.”
