Photo of the Week: Jillian Williams
Eagle Eye: When and where was this photo taken?
Jillian Williams: “This photo was taken on July 15th, 2017 at Mill Bridge Village Camp Resort in Lancaster PA.”
EE: What compelled you to take this photo?
JW: “This is a picture of Herr’s Covered Mill Bridge. I took this photo a few years ago because the campground that the national historic register is placed, it is one of my favorite places in the world, with Lancaster in general also being my favorite place. When camping, I constantly see tourists taking pictures of/at the bridge. The sun was bright that day and the sky was blue, leaving me to feel happy and at peace.”
EE: What is your take on photography? How do you feel about it?
JW: “I feel like photography is one of the greatest gifts we have. We can not remember everything we see but photographs help us to do so. The art of photography is beautiful and allows people to capture a moment digitally, yet still allows people to reminisce the moment as they look back at the picture.”
EE: What is your favorite thing about this photo?
JW: “My favorite thing about this photo would probably be the memories that I get from looking at it. When I think of Lancaster, I get happy. But physically, I enjoy the contrast of shadows due to the different angles and placement of things in the landscape. What I mean is, the sun shines in some areas and reflects off the water, but in other areas there are shadows.”
EE: Anything else you’d like to say?
JW: “The bridge is very old and was falling apart and not safe to walk or travel through, so it is being resorted and relocated to a different location to preserve.”
