Penn Cambria Ices Lady Eagles

The Lady Eagles suffered a crushing defeat in the hands of Penn Cambria Tuesday night in the semi-finals.

Tyrone was plagued by turnovers throughout the game as they had trouble navigating through Penn Cambria’s full court press. They were also cold shooting from the field, making only 5 three pointers.

Tyrone was led by Sydney Shaw and Jaida Parker who scored 15 points each combining for 30 of Tyrone’s 36 points.

The Lady Eagles went cold right from the start as they could not seem to find the bottom of the basket. Tyrone scored a season low 7 points in the first quarter. They trailed 13-7 at the conclusion of the first.

Their offense managed to give a bit more of a output in the second putting 11 more points on the board to go along with Cambria’s 17. The Lady Eagle’s went into the locker room trailing 30-18  looking for a way to break the press.

Both teams played stride for stride with each other in the third quarter. Tyrone kept Penn Cambria in foul trouble all night. They kept the game close in the third capitalizing on every attempt at the line. Tyrone made it a ten point game at one point in the third, but Penn Cambria’s lead was too much to handle as Tyrone still trailed 44-30 after three.

Penn Cambria slammed the door close in the fourth holding Tyrone to only 6 points while bolstering their lead scoring 17 more as they iced the game ending defeating the Lady Eagles 61-36 ending their district title hopes.

The Lady Eagles play Central Cambria tonight to decide third and fourth place. Even with the loss Tyrone will still advance to the state playoffs.
