The band featured this week on PA Band Spotlight is North of Mason Dixon.
North of Mason Dixon (abbreviated NOMaD) is a six piece country band from Monroeville, PA.
NOMaD consists of Dave August on lead vocals, Jay Pfeifer on lead guitar, Bobby Kunkel on drums and percussion, George Elliot on bass, Johnny Waclo on rhythm guitar, and Luke Zacherl on banjo and the fiddle.
NOMaD began in 2004 playing local shows. They quickly became a popular band in the country music industry after winning a highly prestigious music competition in 2005.
They climbed the ladder to success quickly by releasing their 2006 debut album “Born and Raised” with two songs (North of Mason Dixon and I Feel Fine) landing on the billboards country charts at 78 and 82.
They traveled the country playing many shows with top country artists such as Toby Keith, Luke Bryan, and Rascal Flatts. They even had the honor to play in front of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins, Pirates, and the University of Pittsburgh’s football team.
NOMaD have also played the CMA Music festival in 2008 and 2009 with Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, and Keith Urban.
With the release their second self-titled album with the lead off singles City Girl/Country Girl and Showtime, North of Mason Dixon has a bright future ahead of them.
