This week the PA Band Spotlight is on Altoona’s own “Hate Grenade.”
“Hate Grenade” is Tyrone High School graduate Jeff Glace on vocals, Chuck Lavera on guitars, Mike Powers on drums, and Rich Johnson on bass.
Formed in October of 2012 “Hate Grenade” delivers a hard hitting nu-metal sound that is guaranteed to attract many. The members of the band has a lengthy list of great former bands they were once apart of including Solemind, Anointing The Sick , RTL, and Sylex.
Their first two songs “Vendetta” and “Walk Away” combine clean and screaming vocals with hard hitting drums and thrashing guitars to back it. Both songs use a rap metal approach for the vocals.
The verses are usually a kind of rap while the chorus and bridges of the songs are a heavy vocal style with a conventional metal sound. The guitars and drums combine catchy riffs and chest pounding beats.
“Hate Grenade’s” third song to be released is called “Lies” which uses the same elements as the first two songs.
“Hate Grenade” has been hard at work writing new songs constantly. Their debut show will be at Aldo’s Lounge in Altoona PA with bands Up Your Arsenal and 10 Million Devils on Friday, May 31.
With a great start in the music industry, “Hate Grenade” will be sure to turn heads in the future.
