Tyrone Keeps Bats Alive beats Penns Valley

Tyrone collected a much-needed victory on Saturday when they defeated Penns Valley at home 133. Tyrone’s bats came to life putting up 13 runs in their best offensive performance of the year.

Their victory was fueled by the three Ls: Kevin Lehner contributed a dominant outing on the mound pitching a complete game while recording 2 hits and 4 RBIs at the plate, Cory Lehman added 3 hits and 2 more RBIs and Nic Light who contributed 3 more RBIs.

Lehner’s success at the plate and on the mound continued in this game when he pitched a complete game, only giving up 3 runs on 4 hits and fanning 5. While at the plate he collected 3 hits and 2 RBIs.

Tyrone started off the scoring early when a double off the bat of Cory Lehman scored Bryce Hunter. Lehman came around and scored later in the inning on a sac fly from Nic Light.

Both pitchers shut down the other’s lineup until Penns Valley tied the game in the bottom of the second inning 22. Their lead was short-lived because in the bottom of the fourth inning Tyrone’s bats roared to life.

Cory Lehman and Micah Woomer both drove in runs and Tyrone added two more runs off Penns Valley throwing errors. Tyrone held a 74 lead after 4 innings.

Tyrone added another 3 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, and Lehner showed no signs of tiring on the mound as he continued to mow down the Penns Valley lineup inning after inning.

Tyrone ended the game in the bottom of the sixth when no other than Kevin Lehner sent a double into right field scoring Adam Gearhart from second base and Andrew Pearson from first, giving Tyrone a 133 lead enforcing the mercy rule.

With the victory, Tyrone moves to 24 on the season with a 23 record in the Mountain League.
